WEST Footscray recorded a 75-point win over Braybrook in their Western Region Football League Division Two clash on Saturday.
The team sits on top of the table after two rounds and lived up to the pre-season hype with an eye-catching performance.
The Roosters led at every change, with Ziad Kadour a star across half forward while Evan Henry, Sam Webster, Mohammad Jawed were key contributors in the 18.19.127 to 8.4.52 win.
“It was our first game with our match was abandoned last week and considering the conditions we used it pretty well,” West Footscray coach Rob McGhie said.
“But we did suffer a few injuries out of the match, which is disappointing.
“Maybe it was the wet weather, but hopefully we can get them back pretty quickly.
Ruckman David Pinney could miss up to four weeks after breaking his wrist, while Bob Evans and David Innella are both doubtful this weekend with groin and hamstring injuries respectively.
In other matches, North Sunshine overpowered Coburg Districts by 35 points in difficult conditions.
The home side broke clear in the final term to post an important victory which will give them a lot of confidence heading into next week’s clash with the Western Magpies.
North Sunshine will start a raging favourite against the Magpies if its performance on the weekend is any gauge.
Troy Stone was a constant danger in attack booting five goals, while Frank Staffieri was a live-wire across half forward, also finishing with five majors.
Rocco Saggio was also solid down back for the winners while Robbie Telfor won plenty of the ball.
In other Division Two matches Sunshine Heights produced a 262-point mauling of Brunswick Power, booting a mammoth 44.16.280 to 2.6.18.
Albanvale was too slick for Western Magpies winning by 118 points while in another one-sided match, North Footscray defeated Gladstone Park by 115 points.
