WERRIBEE swimming sensation Marko Ivosev returned from the Queensland Short Course Championships last week with enough medals to sink a ship.
The promising 13-year-old continued his rise to prominence with another jaw-dropping performance against some of the best swimmers in the country.
He cleaned up at the championships, winning gold in the 400m individual medley (IM) and 200m butterfly, while narrowly missing out in the 200m IM and the 100m and 50m butterfly, claiming silver.
He also snared bronze in the 100m IM along with a 100m and 50m breaststroke.
“He enjoyed a really successful meet,” father Marin said.
“We expected him to do well so to return with so many medals was a great achievement.
“He does quite a few training sessions and has a lot coming up.”
Ivosev won a national medal in Perth in April which qualified him for the Victorian squad.
He will be attending a Flippers camp in Sydney in September and is regarded as one of the most promising juniors in the country.
Ivosev is also a member of the Victorian Target 2008 squad, which includes nine pool sessions a week along with extra gym training.
He is now preparing for the Victorian Short Course Championships followed by the national championships in Brisbane.
“He has a busy schedule ahead but he enjoys its,” Marin said.
“We think he can do well at the nationals.”
