JOHN Briffa is a first time Independent runner.
He is better known for his brother, Tony Briffa, a Hobsons Bay Community First lobbyist who missed out on a place in council to incumbent mayor Renee Caruana in the 2004 election.
“Unlike some of our current councillors, I will be available to residents and will strongly advocate for them on local issues,” Mr Briffa said.
His focus is on rates, roads, affordable public transport, trees and community services.
“Our rates are too high, traffic from Wyndham Vale to the freeway is too congested, our trees are being removed far too freely, and Zone 1 should be extended to Werribee,” he said.
