A 36-YEAR-OLD Hoppers Crossing man died after he lost control of his car in rush hour traffic on the Princes Freeway last Thursday.
Police said the man’s Mitsubishi sedan clipped another vehicle when changing lanes near the Point Cook Rd exit about 3.30pm. The man lost control of his car, spun, and collided with the freeway railing.
Sgt Phillip Hollian of the Hobsons Bay Traffic Management Unit said witnesses reported the man had displayed “aggressive, erratic driving at speed” since passing the West Gate Bridge turnoff.
He was taken to the Alfred Hospital, but died several hours later.
West-bound traffic along the freeway was backed up to Newland Rd, Laverton for more than two hours after police closed two lanes.
