WERRIBEE Open Range Zoo welcomed three calves to their herd of addax, the African antelope that is classified as critically endangered.
Two females, Kokoda and Sahara, and a male, Kalahari, were born at the zoo over the past two months.
The addax is a type of desert antelope with a white coat that gradates to brown around the chest, neck and head, and a white X-shaped mask on the face.
Male and female addax have long twisted horns that can grow to between 80 and 120 centimetres.
The only known remaining populations of addax in the wild are small isolated groups and individuals in regions of Niger and Chad.
They live most of their lives without drinking, deriving sufficient moisture from dew and plants.
