Winery makes a top drop

WERRIBEE South’s Shadowfax Wines has won the Premier’s Gold Trophy for its 2004 Chardonnay.
The trophy is the culmination of the Royal Melbourne Wine Show and is awarded to wines made from 100 per cent Victorian grapes.
Matt Harrop, winemaker at the fiveyearold winery, said he was “chuffed” by the award. “It’s not something that happens every day,” Mr Harrop said.
“We’re only a small company but this proves we can compete on quality.”
The wine is a blend of chardonnay grown in Geelong, Beechworth and the Cardinia Ranges.
It is set for release in November 2005.
