POLICE will charge some of the teenagers involved in a DVD scandal that rocked Wyndham by early next month.
Det Acting Insp Simon Clemence of the sexual crimes unit said “there will definitely be charges laid”.
He would not indicate at this stage how many of the 12 teenagers involved in the DVD investigation would be charged, or the nature of the charges.
The DVD, which was sold last year around schools in the West, documented the young men assaulting and humiliating a 17-year-old girl, throwing eggs at local taxi drivers, harassing a homeless man, and hoon driving.
The Office for Public Prosecutions had returned the case to the police who would make an announcement in early March, Insp Clemence said.
Charges could include rape, indecent and sexual assault, behavioural offences, and child pornography.
Most of the boys are 16 or 17, but at least one has turned 18 since the offences took place last June.
Under Victorian law, a person can be tried as an adult if he or she has turned 18 since committing an offence.
