COMMUNITY dancing groups were a highlight of the Wyndham Refugee Week Celebration last week.
Refugees from Sudan, Somalia and Burma attended the event, which was held at the Wyndham Cultural Centre.
About 1000 refugees, many from war-torn countries, have moved into Wyndham – and a life of safety – in the past three years.
Wyndham Mayor Shane Bourke launched the Welcome to Wyndham Resource Kit, a booklet containing information about the area and the location and contact details for services, to be given to the newcomers.
The entertainment at the celebration also featured the Police Showband.
