CHINESE residents from across the West welcomed in the Year of the Pig as part of their weekend lunar New Year celebrations.
The pig is the last animal in the Chinese zodiac and is expected to bring a year of business and personal success.
Universal Chinese and Friends Association president Helen Wu joined dozens of other members at the Central Park community centre to enjoy traditional Chinese food and entertainment.
The celebration is the biggest festival on the Chinese calendar.
Along with feasting, New Year celebrations include handing out lucky red packets, or laisee, containing money.
Chinese tradition says giving these money packets brings luck to both giver and receiver
