House auction to help Legacy

A VOLUNTEER organisation dedicated to helping families of dead war veterans will receive a financial boost.
A $360,000 house will be auctioned in Manor Lakes later this month with proceeds going to Legacy.
Bert Dennis, developer of Manor Lakes and president of the Dennis Family Corporation, said he felt personally thankful to the organisation as a recipient of Legacy’s support.
His father, a World War I veteran, committed suicide after his horrific experiences in the trenches.
He left behind his wife and five children.
It was only after his mother was recognised as a war widow that the family’s fortunes changed.
“We had a permanent home, meals were good and regular, and we no longer wore someone’s cast off clothes,” he said.
Mr Dennis forged a link with the organisation several years ago after he donated a $1500 prize to Legacy after his company was named Australia’s best second-generation family business.
Legacy is aiming to raise $3.5 million this year during Legacy Week, from 27 August to 2 September.
The house will be auctioned by Hocking Stuart real estate managing director, Greg Hocking, another Legacy beneficiary.
The auction will be held at noon on Saturday 26 August at 925 Manor Lakes Boulevard, Wyndham Vale.
