Clubs net grants

FOURTEEN projects received Wyndham City Council grants last week under the community partnerships program.
The successful applicants were: the Glen Orden Sports Club ($19,445) for equipment; the 1st Hoppers Crossing Scout Group ($12,230) for asbestos removal and recladding at the scout hall; Werribee Softball Association ($11,000) to install fencing at the President’s Park diamond.
The Heathdale Neighbourhood Association ($9,023) to run adult learning programs and $1,605 for a women’s leadership camp; the Grange Community Centre ($2,786) towards folding chairs and a trolley; Rotary Club of Wyndham ($1,960) for projects relating to the Werribee River restoration.
Honour Avenue Playgroup ($1,671) towards the purchase of a shade sail; Migrant Resource Centre Westgate Region ($1,280) for Refugee Week celebrations; Wyndham Branch of Victorian Association of Honorary Justices ($1,000) for materials to provide of a document witnessing service.
Riff Raf Theatre Productions ($1,000) for a Christmas show; Westgate Support Group ($867) to run various events; Rotary Club of Wyndham ($640) for a Christmas party at Heathglen Retirement Village; and Wyndham Lakes Residents Association ($415) for cleanup activities.
The awards, which began in 1997, are offered to incorporated, nonprofit organisations in Wyndham.
Up to $40,000 is available for each project. Applications for the next round close on 9 November.
