JAMIESON Way Community Centre in Point Cook was officially opened last week.
The $4.5 million centre was built to cater for the increasing demand for services in the community.
Wyndham City mayor Peter Ross did the honours on Friday 16 September.
The centre hosts a kindergarten, maternal and child health services, a communitymeeting place, tennis clubrooms and space for playgroups and a scout group.
Sports fans will also be able to enjoy four netball courts and four tennis courts on site.
Cr Ross said Point Cook’s rapid growth had impacted on council’s services at the nearby Murnong Community Centre, and the Jamieson Way Community Centre would provide them with additional services.
Point Cook is one of Wyndham’s fastest growing communities and is expected to be home to 5,200 households by next year.
The centre also has its own identity, with Wyndham’s dedication to public art showing its face again with its latest installation on the centre’s grounds.
Symbiosis is the winning sculpture of the 2004 Helen Lumpriere Wyndham City Council Acquisition.
The Matthew Harding piece is a series of three sculptures resembling dandelion heads releasing seed.
