MARIBYRNONG City Council is one of eight councils in Melbourne recognised for its water-saving initiatives by City West Water.
The council took part in a water campaign which has five aims regarding water management issues to conserve water and improve water quality.
The project’s second aim is a commitment to set goals to reduce water consumption by 20 per cent.
Over two years, from 1999 to 2001 the council was able to reduce water consumption by 30 per cent.
The council will continue with the five-step program.
