WERRIBEE songbird Brooke Addamo is in the running to be the next Australian Idol.
The 17-year-old made it through three rounds of auditions to enter the Australian Idol Top 100 list. Despite her nerves, Ms Addamo’s rendition of the Julie London hit Cry Me A River and Coldplay’s The Scientist earned praise from judges Kyle Sandilands, Ian Dickson and Marcia Hines at her latest round of auditions last Wednesday.
“I was nervous, but I was also excited to sing. Before going in I just kept on doing my warm-ups, warming up my voice, drinking water,” Ms Addamo said.
“I didn’t expect it, but I got three yesses from all the judges,” she said.
The Galvin Park Secondary College student will head to Sydney to compete at the end next month.
“I’m really excited to go to Sydney. I got a package in the mail from them with my tickets and everything,” she gushed. With all the buzz, “it’s going to be hard to concentrate (on school)”, Ms Addamo admits.
But the 2007 Teen Idol winner is shy about her prospects of making it to the Idol finals.
“You never know with things like that. I could go to Sydney for just one day,” she said. “I’m just going to go in there, practise, practise, practise, and just try my best and do everything to the best of my ability,” she said.
