WYNDHAM Vale’s nine-point win over Yarraville Seddon lifted the Falcons into fifth spot after round 13 of the WRFL’s Division Two competition on Saturday.
The Falcons were in a neck-and-neck tussle all game and held on for a 11.13 (79) to 10.11 (71) victory.
Paul Manitta kicked four goals for the Falcons while Nathan Reschke, Aaron Molivas and Nathan Evans, in his 100th senior game for the club, were among Wyndham Vale’s best. Andrew Willis and Christian Fagan were Yarraville’s best players.
Laverton kept its finals chances alive with a 23-point win against Caroline Springs.
The Magpies sit eighth on the ladder and are two games outside the five. Laverton’s Ashley Murray and Caroline Springs’ Dean Borg both kicked four goals. Albanvale remained in second spot with a convincing win over West Footscray.
The Cobras defeated the Roosters 25.15 (165) to 16.10 (106).
Michael Lindsay and Sherif Mohamed kicked five goals apiece for Albanvale, while West Footscray’s Lindon Harris also bagged five.
Coburg Districts had no trouble against the struggling Braybrook side, winning by 95 points to remain in fourth position.
