Council ramps up

WYNDHAM Council will seek almost $500,000 from the State Government to help develop the Werribee South Boat Ramp.
With demand on the boat ramp continuing to increase, the council will apply for funding from Marine Safety Victoria to help fund construction of a third pontoon.
According to a report tabled at last week’s council meeting, casual use of the Werribee South Boat Ramp had increased by 53 per cent and ticket sales by 72 per cent over the past five years.
The council will apply for a funding grant from Marine Safety Victoria to undertake a range of new works and upgrades.
These include the installation of a new pontoon alongside ramp three and the creation of accessible ramp for the disabled.
There are also plans to conduct “minor dredging” of the ramp area to “eliminate underwater hazards” and an feasibility investigation into construction of a recycled water “boat wash-down” facility.
If the funding grant is successful, the council would contribute nearly $120,000 of the project’s total cost of more than $590,000.
