Driver trapped for hour after crash

A 20-year-old man suffered chest and back injuries after his Ford Falcon and a Mack truck collided on the Leakes Rd and Sunset View Boulevard intersection at 6.30am on Thursday.
Werribee Police Senior Constable Darin Sheahan said it appeared the young man may not have looked both ways before he started entering the intersection.
“Speed was not an issue and there was fog but that was not a factor,” he said.
“At the moment we are trying to speak to witnesses to determine the exact cause.”
The local resident spent an hour trapped in the driver’s seat after the accident because his legs were caught between the pedals.
“The roof and the right-side door had to be cut off to get him out but he remained conscious the whole time,” Mr Sheahan said.
He was taken to The Alfred hospital.
