WYNDHAM Vale has continued its stunning form to defeat Parkside by 14 points and stay in contention for a double chance if it wins its final minor round game against Coburg this Saturday.
It’s a position that seemed unlikely after Round 11 when the Falcons were in seventh place, but they’ve won their past five games and now sit in fourth spot, only percentage behind Parkside.
Less than a goal separated the two teams for the majority of the match, although the Falcons were more wasteful in front of goal.
Wyndham Vale kicked 3.5 to Parkside’s 2.2 to seal a well-deserved victory.
The win was a clear indicator of Wyndham Vale’s improvement form the first half of the season. Parkside thrashed Wyndham Vale by 56 points when they last met in Round 7.
The Falcons have secured a finals berth but must defeat Coburg Districts this Saturday and rely on West Footscray to beat Parkside to finish the home-and-away season in third.
In other results, Coburg Districts defeated Yarraville Seddon 16.15 (111) to 12.17 (89), knocking the Eagles out of the finals race. Albanvale thrashed Laverton 24.18 (162) to 9.8 (62), while West Footscray easily accounted for North Sunshine 44.16 (280) to 4.3 (27).
