WERRIBEE hockey club will be holding a fair go sports day this Saturday.
Werribee is one of four pilot clubs to be involved in the project, run by The Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission of Victoria with Hockey Victoria.
The project is about gender and sexual diversity within sport but Werribee is extending this message to focus on inclusion as a whole.
All senior players will wear rainbow coloured socks on the day and will exchange “Fair, Go, sport!” wristbands with the opposition. A barbecue will be cooking snags throughout the day and there will be music and food for those who wish to stay on in the evening.
There will be cake stall, a jumping castle, craft activities and other children’s activities.
The Under 9s will begin proceedings at 10.55am, followed by the women’s metro 2 team taking on PEGS.
The men’s State League 3 team will take on Baw Baw for the inaugural Fair Go Sport Cup, which will be presented by Wyndham City Mayor John Menegazzo.
The men’s Pennant E team will conclude the day’s competition against Footscray.
