Bay touch up

By Bridie Byrne
BOATERS in the western suburbs are set to have a new ramp and jetty at Werribee South.
Roads and Ports Minister Tim Pallas last week announced a grant of $42,000 would go to the project.
“The new ramp and jetty will play an important role in improving access to Port Phillip Bay for all boating and fishing enthusiasts in the West,” he said.
The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Werribee Flotilla received $21,000 for a new vessel trailer as part of the Boating Safety and Facilities Program.
Mr Pallas said the program supported a range of state-wide initiatives including boating safety public awareness campaigns, research focused on injuries and fatalities, education programs and boating safety publications.
The government reviewed the marine safety legislation to modernise laws that would improve safety for boaters and other water users.
