FOR Glen Knight injury crushed his dreams of playing professional sport.
But the 18-year-old is still determined to stand next to his idols on the field.
He has just started a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Human Movement degree after being awarded a scholarship.
Victoria University’s merit-based program offers two scholarships for each school in the western suburbs.
The 60 students selected this year were the highest achieving among their classmates.
Glen will receive $5000 a year for up to four years to help with his studies.
The former Westbourne Grammar student said the money would be spent on paying off the course and for text books.
“I have a big interest in sport and I always wanted to go into that area,” he said.
Glen played football, tennis and basketball before being inflicted with a life-changing knee injury.
“It built up over time and the cartilage was rubbing on my lower leg bone,” he said.
Glen said he now aimed to pursue a career in exercise rehabilitation to help AFL players with sprains or torn ligaments.
