Course back on track

NEW turf was laid at the Werribee Racecourse last week as the dormant track continues its transformation.
Crucial work on the track had ceased after the financial collapse of the construction company.
Akron was forced to call in administrators leaving 10 per cent of their work incomplete.
But racing officials were confident the major upgrade would not be delayed.
Racing was suspended after jockeys deemed the track unsafe in 2007.
A $5 million overhaul was required before racing could resume.
