Is this our most expensive home?

THE MOST expensive house in Wyndham is from an area you might not expect.
The mansion with “wow-factor” is built on an island in Sanctuary Lakes and has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, is set on just over 1000 square metres of land and is imposing at about 72 square metres in size.
The exact sale price of the million dollar-plus home in Sanctuary Lakes is highly protected.
Ray White Real Estate’s Area Manager and auctioneer, Marco Rebab, who sold the house before it could go to auction, said more people are buying in Wyndham because of affordability.
“The fact is that people can’t always afford Williamstown and Altona,” Mr Rebab said.
“I can tell you right now that if that house had have been in Williamstown it would have gone for $2 million easily.”
Mr Rebab said that people might not expect a house to sell for so much in Sanctuary Lakes.
“It’s just that people don’t know about Sanctuary Lakes as much,” he said. “At this stage it’s still uncharted waters.” According to the REIV the median house price from September 2005 to September this year has also increased astronomically throughout Wyndham.
The median house price has risen in Point Cook by 54 per cent over the last five years while it has increased by 52 per cent in Hoppers Crossing. Neighbouring suburb Altona’s most expensive house sold for an impressive $3 million.
