INDUSTRY associations and companies based across the West are being encouraged to nominate manufacturers for the Victorian Manufacturer’s Hall of Fame 2011.
Member for the Western Metropolitan Region Andrew Elsbury said the West had a strong history in manufacturing, adding that it should bode well for the awards.
“We have first-class manufacturing centres in Laverton North, Altona and Tottenham to name but a few, and I encourage industries wherever they may be to put themselves forward and gain the recognition they so richly deserve,” Mr Elsbury said.
“We in the West should have a clear advantage due to the sheer number of manufacturers who call the West home.”
There are five categories that businesses can be nominated for: the young manufacturer of the year, the honour roll, the young enabling technology of the year, company induction and the enabling technology company of the year.
Nominations for the Victorian Manufacturer’s Hall of Fame close on 28 February and the winners will be announced on 26 May during National Manufacturing Week.
