A SIXTEEN-year-old girl was assaulted by a man in broad daylight near the Werribee River on Tuesday 5 April. The girl told police she was sitting on a park bench near the river between Redgum Close and the Cottrell St ford at about 12.30pm when a man held a knife to her throat and forced her to lie on the ground while he tried to sexually assault her. The man is described as being about 22 years old, with short black frizzy hair, unshaven, a flattish nose, brown eyes with bushy eyebrows and tattoos on his wrist and hands.
