STAR News Group is again the media partner for this year’s Star Women in Business awards.
The awards, in their third year, will be held at Keilor’s Overnewton Castle and Conference Centre on 13 August.
Physiotherapist Lauren Elliott won the Leisure Health and Lifestyle Award and the Star Businesswoman of the Year at last year’s event.
Ms Elliott is one of four partners at the Hoppers Crossing Physio Centre and runs the Kensington’s Melbourne Animal Physio Centre.
Winning the awards have boosted the profile of her Kensington business, while the Hoppers Crossing Physio continues to flourish.
“For me in such a new business such as animal physio…it was the best exposure I could have hoped for,” she said. “I got so much clientele from that. Not from just vets referring, but from word of mouth and people coming in through the door.”
Women in Business Network (WIBN) secretary Maria Cox said the awards were unique. There will also be two new categories this year – the Achievement Award and Community Spirit Award.
“We find that a lot of women might be busy juggling family commitments and business and they miss out on opportunities to network with like-minded people,” Ms Cox said.
Nominees must be members of WIBN and membership enquiries can be directed to www.youthnow.org.au.
Nominations should be sent to info@womeninbusiness.org.au by 2 July.
