THE Wyndham Highway Patrol has caught and impounded more than one hoon vehicle every day for the last week as residents continue to shock police with their “lawlessness”.
Two Wyndham Vale brothers were nabbed racing along Ballan Rd at more than double the speed limit last Sunday.
The brothers, 26 and 20-years old, who were also learner drivers, were caught flying at 176 kilometres and 150km in an 80km zone respectively.
Both men admitted they were racing, had their cars impounded for 30 days and were charged with a long list of offences including one of them driving an unregistered vehicle.
Earlier the same day three motorcycle riders were nabbed darting in and out of traffic along the Princes Freeway in the Lara area.
At around 5.30pm police started receiving calls about the bikies so they sat in wait at the Princes Freeway in Werribee.
All three men were detected driving at 156km in a 100km zone as they travelled in a tight group towards the city.
Last Friday, a 39-year-old Avondale Heights man had his pricey motorcycle, a custom $30,000 Harley Davidson, impounded when he was caught driving whilst disqualified.
In December he had the motorcycle impounded for the exact same offence.
Senior Constable Matthew Wilson of the Wyndham Highway Patrol said he couldn’t believe the lawlessness of some drivers.
“They have had their licence cancelled by the courts and yet they still continue to drive,” Sen Const Wilson said.
“Obviously his first impoundment is not enough.”
