POINT Cook residents will have another place to get together with a new $6.3 million community centre opening its doors next month.
The Featherbrook Community Centre will have two kindergarten rooms, two maternal and child health care rooms, a commercial kitchen, social rooms and three community meeting spaces among other features.
Deputy Mayor Glenn Goodfellow said the area would be a hub for the community.
“With a neighbouring oval and sporting pavilion, this precinct will be buzzing with people from kinder kids to teenagers playing a game of footy,” Cr Goodfellow said.
“Point Cook is expected to grow by over 23,000 residents over the next 10 years, which makes facilities like Featherbrook Community Centre vital. By constructing this Community Centre, Wyndham City is continuing its commitment to provide social and recreational infrastructure for Point Cook residents.
“With new programs and services being regularly added, I encourage residents to pop down and get a tour of the facility and see what’s on offer over the coming months.”
The first programs starting at the centre next month will be kindergarten groups, three-year-old plus activity groups, playgroups, Scottish Country Dancing and Point Cook Girl Guides.
