Crooks target cars

WYNDHAM police have appealed for public help to solve several car thefts, which occurred within Werribee.
Areas where the vehicles have been stolen include Odessa Court, Carmarthen Close, Blueberry Court, Daphne Crescent, Torrens St, Purchas St, Cherry St, Kauri Court and Orange Grove.
Police said in some cases, the targeted cars appear to have been left unlocked, while the burglars have also forced open the locks on other cars or broken the rubber sealing on windows.
The thieves have also stolen a firearm, which was left inside a vehicle parked in a driveway.
In addition, the offenders have stolen money, computers hidden under car seats, GPS equipment left attached to windscreens and attempted to steal stereos and CD players.
Police said it was incredibly important for residents to secure their vehicles and ensure there were no valuables left inside.
“Never leave valuables in your car, be vigilant,” Senior Constable Fiona Reid said.
“Ensure your vehicle is properly secured. Install sensor lights at the front of your house if your vehicle has to be left in the driveway and consider car alarms.
If you see anyone looking into vehicles or acting suspicious please call Triple-zero, or if you have information in relation to these thefts call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
