SOLAR panels have been installed at Werribee and Point Cook Library as part of Wyndham City Council’s capital works budget.
The facilities have been fitted with a five kilowatt solar panel system which will save around 8920 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
Wyndham Mayor Cr Kim McAliney said the council was committed to reducing its carbon footprint through environmentally friendly initiatives.
“These solar panels will provide not only a saving in terms of carbon emissions, but also a financial saving to Wyndham City as they reduce our energy bills,” Cr McAliney said.
Educational displays have been created in each of the learning centres to highlight energy, cost and emission savings to visitors and demonstrate the benefits of solar power.
“Wyndham City is leading by example by installing these solar panels in our facilities and demonstrating to residents just how much energy can be saved in their own homes,” she said.
“Next time you’re visiting the Point Cook or Werribee CBD Library, pop in and see how much energy these solar panels are saving.”
