WYNDHAM police have appealed for motorists not to drink and drive, after two inebriated young residents were caught out in separate incidents on 24 June.
At around 2am on Saturday night, a 30-year-old male crashed his car into a home on Clearwater Drv in Tarneit.
Luckily, no-one was in the house when the motorist crashed into it.
The driver, from Truganina, recorded a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.125, after officers from Wyndham North Police Station asked him to be tested.
Later in the evening, Geelong police apprehended a 19-year-old Hoppers Crossing resident, who registered a BAC of 0.14 on Princes Highway at 3.10am.
The teenager, who was on his P-plates, told police he was on his way home at the time.
Leading Senior Constable Darin Sheehan, from Wyndham Highway Patrol, advised people to plan their nights out, so they did not end up driving home after drinking alcohol.
“It is a condition, of holding a probationary licence, to be 00 – or ‘point 0’ – and all probationary drivers know this when they get their licence,” he said.
“Therefore, they shouldn’t expect any leniency from us if they choose to take a chance and drink and drive.
“Aside from running the risk of getting caught, you could kill or seriously injure yourself or another person.”
