A HOPPERS Crossing musician with a love for blues music and a story to tell is hoping to open people’s minds.
Jesse Valach is the lead singer of the band Blues Mountain, which has recently released their debut album Jesse Valach presents Blues Mountain.
The album has been receiving national radio airplay and was featured on Triple J Unearthed.
“I had written a few of the songs about a year-and-a-half ago and then we just sort of went into the studio and recorded it in a weekend,” Mr Valach told Star.
“It’s been getting a lot of airplay and everyone seems really happy with it.”
Mr Valach moved to Australia from Tauranga in New Zealand and spent a bit of time in Port Hedland in Western Australia before moving to Hoppers Crossing.
“Port Hedland is a bit of a desert type region and I was almost the only musician in town,” he said.
“That meant that I was able to support a lot of the headline acts that came to the area.
“From there I came to Melbourne and really found my niche in the blues music scene.”
Mr Valach said he hoped his music would open the audience’s mind to something they might not usually listen to.
“Blues music seems really under-rated and I think people don’t appreciate it as much as they should,” he said.
“I think people will come away from our performances with a new appreciation for blues.”
Blues Mountain will be launching their new album on Sunday 5 August at the Greyhound Hotel in St Kilda.
