Teens charged after crime spree

A TARNEIT teenager is one of four youths charged by police for a late night crime spree in Melbourne’s north-west earlier this month.
The 13-year-old boy was arrested by Sunshine police officers along with a 15-year-old boy from Sunshine, a 14-year-old boy from Caroline Springs and a 14-year-old girl from Derrimut.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said the youths were being investigated after they allegedly fled from police in a stolen car in Melton at about 1am on Monday 23 July.
The officers called the chase off after it was deemed to be too dangerous before locating the vehicle 30 minutes later after it was dumped in a creek near Esmond St in Ardeer.
It is alleged the teenagers were also involved in a hit and run incident in which a security guard at a Sydenham Shopping Centre sustained minor injuries.
Police are also investigating an armed robbery at a Deer Park service station on Eucembene Drive which was held up at knifepoint at about 9.30pm the night before.
Police charged the youths last week with armed robbery, theft, theft of a motor vehicle, criminal damage, reckless conduct endangering life and various traffic offences.
They are expected to face a Children’s Court in the near future.
