KOORINGAL Golf Club is readying itself for its second annual Legends Pro-Am golf day on 26 September.
Simmonds Homes has come on board as a major sponsor for this year’s event and will be held to raise funds for the EJ Whitten Foundation.
Club PGA professional Marty Walsh said he was hoping the event would only get bigger in years to come.
“We raised over $5000 last year,” Walsh said.
“I think we can improve on that this year by a couple of thousand, at least.”
Those confirmed to be participating in the event include Rodger Davis, former Australian cricketer Dean Jones, Mike Harwood, Michael Clayton and Krishna Singh, brother of former world number one, Vijay.
Walsh said the event was an important date on the club’s annual calendar.
“It’s quite significant,” he said.
“We had our first event last year, and we would like to run it for a few years and keep it ongoing.
“It’s good exposure for the golf club in regards to those senior guys who haven’t played here before and those who travel interstate.
Last year, we had terrific weather and they were very complementary of the course and the facilities, which is great for the club and the area.”
The professionals will be playing for $10,000 prize money, however those who have a handicap can still enter the morning event for $60.
“It’s not just a golf club event, so if there’s any golfing tragics out there – anyone is welcome to come down and have a look.”
