ORGANISERS at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre know how to put on a show.
Last week saw almost 500 horses descend on the centre for the Australian Show Jumping Championships with over $60,000 in prize money on offer over the four-day event.
Show Jumping Championship committee member Sarah Liarakos said the event had been a resounding success.
“We have been told that it is one of the best Australian Championships that people have ever seen,” she said.
“Everyone has been impressed with the venue and the way the championships have been run and the way the competitors have been looked after.
“The highlights would be the Werribee weather holding up while the venue has just been great.
Competitors came from all parts of Australia and Liarakos said it was a big thrill to be given the opportunity to host such an event.
“People have really enjoyed themselves here and feel like it has been a very high quality show,” she said.
“It is exciting for us to be involved in this.
“We see how much our visitors are enjoying it and the committee has also worked very hard to get everything up and running, and it is nice to see the fruits of their labour.
“We are actually hoping to host this event again next year.”
