Police investigate car crash

POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding a single-vehicle crash on the Princes Highway in Werribee last week.
Firefighters were called out to the scene of crash at 11.20pm last Tuesday after the vehicle had struck a light tower pole in front of the entrance to the University of Melbourne’s Veterninary clinic, causing the tower to fall to the ground.
The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, escaped without injuries and no other property or vehicles were damaged in the collision.
The following day at around 3.15pm firefighters from Werribee and Hoppers Crossing attended a bin fire at the rear of 7 Bridge Street in Werribee. Police had first noticed the fire while patrolling Synnot St and secured the area until the fire brigade arrived.
Firefighters found a motor vehicle on fire in a covered car park and a considerable amount of smoke could be seen in the vicinity.
Firefighters managed to quickly bring the fire under control before it could enter a nearby building.
After the fire was contained, crews were able to establish that the fire had started in an industrial waste bin stored against a wall in a car park which was located directly in front of the car which had been alight.
The vehicle was severely damaged and the cause of the fire was deemed accidental.
