FUN and games are all in a days work for Sandee Facy.
The mother-of-two from Point Cook is a presenter at Hey Dee Ho music and spends most of her time playing and teaching young children in Wyndham.
After moving to Australia in 2008, Sandee started working in children’s entertainment while singing professionally for more than seven years.
“It’s great to have a job that you actually really enjoy. I believe children are the best audience you can have,” she said.
“When you’re performing you can’t be thinking about anything else other than being in the moment with the children.”
Laverton resident Michael Saleta, who is a member of Sandee’s Wyndham team, said the best thing about working with children was being able to act like a kid.
The entertainer has also worked as DJ and musician, learning to play several instruments including guitar, drums and piano.
Michael said involving children in games, activities and sing-a-longs can help them develop spatial awareness and teach them self-control.
“You’re still teaching them early developmental skills,” Michael said.
“Everything we do, we do for a reason. Sure, we have a lot of fun but there is meaning behind what we’re doing.”
He said children learnt a number of necessary motor and social skills through having fun.
“The best way to learn things is by having a good time,” Michael said.
“If you incorporate being fun and being happy and great music it tends to sink in a lot more.”
The Hey Dee Ho duo will take part in a Teddy Bears Picnic event at the Werribee Plaza every day this week until the end of school holidays.
