POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a hoon led them on a high speed pursuit through Point Cook, Altona and Yarraville earlier this month.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said members of the Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit in an unmarked police car observed a Ford falcon being driven erratically near the Point Cook Rd exit around 2.40pm on Monday 5 November.
“The vehicle, travelling city bound, was swerving across several lanes on the highway, forcing other drivers to take evasive action to avoid a collision,” the spokesperson said.
“Police followed the vehicle for a short time before initiating a pursuit on the Westgate Freeway Altona, near the Grieve Rd overpass.
“The driver refused to pull over and the pursuit continued until the vehicle left the freeway at the Williamstown Road exit and stopped at a traffic light.”
A 28-year-old Hoppers Crossing man accompanied detectives to the Williamstown Police Station where he was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
Stonnington detectives are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward and assist them in their investigation.
