JUNK food fundraising drives are a thing of the past with schools making a conscious effort to eat well and exercise.

Students from Manor Lakes P-12 College recently set a healthy example by participating in an adidas sponsored school walk-a-thon/fun run.

More than 700 students from Prep to Year 6 hit the track and raised more than $6,000 in vital extra funding for the school.

The wetlands located behind the school made the perfect backdrop and set the scene of the event with students choosing to walk, run or jog the track.

Students sought sponsorship from family, friends and members of the local community to raise the money for the school.

The fun run fundraiser encouraged students to participate in healthy lifestyle activities.

Leading Teacher – Community, Anthony Sabatino, said it was a fantastic day and raised a lot of money for the school.

“(The fundraiser was) all part of developing a strong culture at the college based on our four values. Aiming high; showing respect; valuing our community and being safe,” Mr Sabatino said.

The event coincided with the college’s well-being and nutrition week where students spent time participating in interactive, healthy and fun activities.

Mr Sabatino said the money will most likely go toward the schools sporting resources.
