PAST and present members are the heart and soul of the Werribee Pony Club and thanks to them it has survived for three decades.

On Sunday 2 December the club is hosting its 30 year anniversary and is inviting all of its members to come and celebrate.

Club secretary Aimee Cuthbert joined the club as a riding member in 1987 and her father is the district commissioner.

Ms Cuthbert said the club is only small with 23 members but without them it would not be possible.

“We’re really lucky to have a fantastic bunch of members, and had some great parents over the years that have done a lot for the club,” Ms Cuthbert said.

“Without the support we have through the club, through previous members and current, we can’t survive without volunteers and helpers.”
Ms Cuthbert said it would be fantastic to catch up with previous members.

“Be good to catch up with a lot of people who supported and made the club what it is today.”

The oldest member of the club named Cognac will enjoy the celebrations from the stables.

Known as the club’s living legend, the stallion was first purchased by previous members in 1985 and is still a treasured member of the club today.

“He’s what we call the last of the originals. He’s the oldest member,” Ms Cuthbert said.

Second generation rider Geortia Moodie, 13 also enjoys the stables that her mum rode in as a teenager before her.

“It’s nice to have second generation coming back into the club and supporting us,” Ms Cuthbert said.

Over the years some of the club’s riders have been represented Victoria at competitions, with one rider even competing in an international competition in Ireland.

“To have a rider come from the club riding at that international level is huge,” Ms Cuthbert said.

The reunion will be held at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre, Werribee South from 12 noon. Lunch $10 per person. For more information contact Aimee Cuthbert on 0403 376 870.
