RESIDENTS will have an opportunity to shape Wyndham Council’s future rating strategy at a series of community workshops from next month.
Feedback gathered during six workshops, to be held between February and April, will be passed on to an independently chaired Rating Strategy Advisory Group which will provide advice to the council in the lead up to the 2014/15 budget.
At a council meeting on 24 September last year, councillors voted to support a review of the municipality’s entire rating strategy and the establishment of an advisory group following valuation objections by irate property owners in the Urban Growth Zone (UGZ).
Wyndham Mayor Heather Marcus said the group would gather a diverse range of views from the community.
“Wyndham City is committed to making our rating strategy as fair as possible for all ratepayers,” Cr Marcus said.
“Although changes will not be made to rates and charges already struck in the 2012/13 budget, the information from these workshops will be crucial in determining Wyndham City’s future rating strategy.”
