Premier gallery expo

THE Wyndham Art Gallery is hoping to gain a reputation as one of the premier art venues in the West, with the launch of a new exhibition this month.

Monochromes is a contemporary art exhibition showcasing the talents of Canberra-based, award-winning visual artist and arts educator David Sequeira.

As part of the exhibition, Sequeira will be installing a mix of new works and through the use of text, colours and mirrors he considers the concept of ‘Everything, Nothing’, in which things only exist by their limitations.

Wyndham Mayor, Cr Heather Marcus said it was exciting to have world class art in Wyndham.

“Over the last 12 years, David Sequeira has exhibited his work internationally and extensively throughout Australia at venues including the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Museum of Contemporary Art,” Cr Marcus said.

“His work has been regularly profiled in art journals and he has received numerous awards including the Australia Council’s studio residency in Paris and the Collex Museum of Contemporary Art acquisitive prize.”

The exhibition is open until Sunday 13th March.
