Elderly couple found dead

RESIDENTS of a quiet Hoppers Crossing street were in shock last week when they woke up to find homicide detectives out the front of one of their neighbour’s homes.

The detectives were investigating the death of a man aged in his 90s and a woman, believed to be his daughter, aged in her 60s.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said police arrived at the house in Minogue Crescent at around 6am last Thursday after receiving a call from a neighbour.

The deaths were not being treated as suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner, the spokesperson said.

It is believed the pair could have been deceased for more than a week before their bodies were discovered.

A neighbour who did not want to be named told Star he thought his street had become a crime scene.

“When you see all these police you expect the worst,” the neighbour said.

“They seemed to be a lovely pair and most of us are of the opinion that she was caring for him in his old age.

“I think it will take us quite a while to get over it.”
