Unlucky for some

A WYNDHAM resident narrowly missed out on pocketing more than $300,000 when he failed to buy a lottery ticket in his regular syndicate.

Kevin Ung, who runs the Werribee Plaza Lotto Kiosk sold the winning ticket in the Tattslotto drawn on Saturday 26 January which won 12 people an equal share in $4,083,003.

Mr Ung said the syndicate was run across three different suburbs, Werribee, Thomastown and Doncaster.

“A number of the customers in this syndicate play every week, while a few are casual players who don’t buy into syndicates regularly,” Mr Ung said.

“Unfortunately one of the regular players decided to stop playing in the syndicate just last week, so they have missed out on this major prize.”

It was the seventh division one winning ticket sold at the store.

“We’ve had syndicates win before, but it’s usually in bigger Tattslotto events like superdraws and megadraws,” he said.

“To win the entire Tattslotto division one prize pool is certainly a surprise.”

One of the men who won has already won prizes in syndicates twice before, previously taking home $30,000 and $16,000.

“The winners I have spoken to said they will do very different things. One winner will go on a cruise, one will buy an investment property, one will leave the money in a term deposit and another said he now plans on getting his taxi driver’s licence,” Mr Ung said.
