DOES your dog have what it takes to become Yarraville’s next top model?
The Yarraville Village Animal Hospital is on the prowl for fashionable pooches across the West to take to the catwalk at the annual Pet Fashion Parade as part of this weekend’s Yarraville Arts Festival.
Veterinarian Dr Rhonda Dunmill has been running the event for the past 14 years when she started up the clinic and said pet owners really got into the spirit of the parade.
“What people really love is the opportunity to get their pet into costume,” Dr Dunmill said.
“The craziest and most imaginatively dressed animals are destined to steal the limelight.”
Previous years have seen dogs embrace their inner movie stars and emulate famous roles, while robot and superhero costumes were always in vogue.
Dr Dunmill said some owners also got in on the fun by dressing up to complement their dogs.
Popular comedian and media personality Dave O’Neill will return to the West to host the event alongside special guest judges Miss Gay and Miss Transsexual Australia Pageant organiser Gayzha Davao, Jessica Huggins and Christie Reeves.
“Organising and judging a dog fashion parade cannot be harder than a Miss Australia contest,” Ms Gayzha said.
The event will run this Saturday at 12.30pm.
Dogs and their owners can pre-register or show up on the day. Call 9689 8100 or email rhondadunmill@optusnet.com.au for more information.
