SEVENTEEN young people were recognised and rewarded for commitment and dedication to their studies and active participation within their school communities as part of a presentation of this year’s Wyndham Scholarship Fund grants on Wednesday 6 March.
The Wyndham Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 to provide assistance to local students to complete their secondary education.
Until this year, only students in years 11 and 12 were eligible for the scholarships, but they are now also available to students in years eight to 10.
Wyndham Mayor Heather Marcus said it was a privilege to be able to support this year’s grant recipients with $650 each as they move forward with their studies.
“Wyndham City has long recognised the role we play in supporting our local young people to realise their full potential. We also recognise the importance of education in assisting young people to achieve their aspirations and create a future for themselves and their families,” Cr Marcus said.
The Wyndham Scholarship Fund is part of Wyndham Council’s Community Grants program. For more information phone 9742 0777, e-mail funding@wyndham.vic.gov.au or visit www.wyndham.vic.gov.au
