FRIENDS and family gathered at the Werribee Race Club last week to celebrate the life of 21-year-old Shaun Wright.
Mr Wright died from stab wounds on Sunday 17 March after he was found in Johnson Street in Fitzroy by a council worker at about 5am.
A friend of Mr Wright told Star hundreds of people had been affected by his sudden death.
“It’s one of those things you just don’t expect to happen to anyone you know,” the friend said.
“(Shaun) was a friend to everyone and it’s just heart-breaking to think that he could be killed in such a senseless way.”
Police have charged 25-year-old Fatah Issah from Preston with Mr Wright’s murder and he faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 20.
A 20-year-old Burnside woman, an 18-year-old North Melbourne woman and 21-year-old Sydenham man also faced court charged with affray over the incident.
Media were requested not to attend Mr Wright’s funeral to give his family privacy during their mourning.
