IT IS common place to see horses flying along the Werribee Racing Club track carrying jockey’s on their backs.
This month however will see grooms carry their future brides along the track in a mad dash to the finish line for the first time.
The Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing is organising a Bridal Expo which it is hoped will become an annual event.
The fundraising day will “not only benefit brides and grooms who are celebrating a wedding in Melbourne’s West but also boost their funds for Rotary projects,” a Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing spokesperson said.
“Soon-to-be brides and grooms and their families and friends will have an opportunity to visit over 40 wedding specialists in the same venue.”
According to the Rotary Club it will be possible for brides and their grooms to organise their entire wedding in one day with the large number of exhibitors that will be at the event.
There will also be two bridal and mother-of-the-bride fashion parades on the day.
One of the major drawcards of the event however is likely to be the bridal race, which will see grooms-to-be carry their future brides in a 50 metre race along the Werribee Racing Club track.
The event will be held on Sunday 21 April from 10am to 4pm at the Werribee Racing Club, Bulban Rd in Werribee, with an entry cost of $5.
