A WERRIBEE boy is taking his sport by storm.
Beau Koscak was recently selected as one of eight members of the Under 15 Victorian Christian Schoolboys Basketball Team.
No one is more proud of him than his mum Jennifer who decided to share the news with Beau’s school, Heathdale Christian College, before he had even found out himself.
“I found out when mum came up to the school and held the acceptance letter up to glass outside my classroom,” Beau said.
“I was pretty embarrassed. You never see a mum rock up to school like that.”
The dedicated youngster uses his speed to dominate the basketball court and has a promising future ahead of him as the only person from the western suburbs selected for the team.
At just 13-years-old he already wears size 11 shoes and in fact he is growing so fast his body cannot keep up.
Beau has had to scale back his training regime to four times a week because he has a condition known as Oshgood Slatters, where the rest of his body is growing too quickly for his knees.
His favourite basketball team is the Boston Celtics and he said he would like to play college basketball in America, and ultimately play professionally.
“I’d love to see myself in America one day,” he said.
Beau shared his words of wisdom and encouraged other kids his age to try their hardest in whatever they are doing.
“Keep training and never give up on what you’re dreaming about,” he said.
Beau will travel to the Gold Coast with the rest of the Victorian Christian Schoolboys Basketball Team on 20 May.
