THEY are the best of friends that have never left each other’s sides, but now one half of a special relationship is missing.
Finlay and Keith sound like normal buddies, but what is unusual about this relationship is that Keith is actually a cat and Finlay is a six-month-old baby.
Mum Kate said she bought Keith as a kitten just before she found out she was pregnant.
Keith would sleep on her stomach during her pregnancy and when Finlay was born the cat immediately fell in love with him.
Since then they have often slept together, under strict supervision from Kate, and have become best friends.
“The cat loves him, it’s like he’s looking after him,” Kate said.
“He tries to get in the cot and we have to stop him.”
But things have not been as happy as they used to since Keith went missing from Kate’s grandmother’s house in Hoppers Crossing on 11 May.
“We’ve been devastated, we just hope he’s ok,” Kate said.
“We’ve been putting out fliers everywhere.
“Finlay seems to be just looking for Keith.”
The family, who lives in Prahran, are planning to move to the Hoppers Crossing area soon.
They are offering a reward to anyone who can give them information that will help them track down Keith.
The cat is an eight-month-old male kitten tabby with grey and brown markings.
Anyone with information should contact Kate on 0423 424 372.
